300PLUS launch party

300PLUS Gets Bigger, Bolder and Better

300Plus, the well-known Go… MUCH… Faster custom shop, has built itself quite the reputation over the years. Not just for creating brutally quick motorcycles (hence the name), but for crafting some of the most unique and exquisite machines on South African soil. You might remember that wild Hayabusa we featured a while back, yep, that was one of theirs.

So, when we popped in for a casual visit recently, expecting the usual spotless workshop and calm precision, we were met instead with chaos, the good kind. Tools, boxes, bikes, and a few slightly frazzled team members everywhere. Turns out the crew was in the middle of a full-on expansion mission. Holes in the wall, wiring hanging loose, people shouting measurements across the floor. Ashlay, the boss man himself, grinned and said, “We’re growing, both the shop and what we do. Come back in two days for the relaunch.”

Well, we did.

300PLUS
This custom 'Busa built by 300Plus tipped the scales somewhere north of R1million.

Two days later, we rolled into a properly big bash, and what a vibe. So many events these days tend to be a bit subdued, but not this one. The 300Plus reopening was buzzing. Bikes lined up, people everywhere, and a heavy party atmosphere from the get go. By the time we got there, the place was already heaving. Big names had pulled in too, Bikewise, Liqui Moly, Touratech SA, Italjet, X-Ramp and a bunch of others all showing off their wares.

The free beer tent (thanks, Ashlay) and the guys from Hokaai Butchery dishing up spitbraai rolls definitely helped set the mood. A DJ was throwing down some serious beats from the main stage, keeping the crowd fired up while everyone wandered between stands, bikes and the freshly polished 300Plus builds that have made the shop famous.

Then came the moment, speeches done, a few laughs, and with a bang and a clang, the roller doors went up. Cue cheers, whistles and a few choice words of pure amazement. Inside, the new 300Plus shop gleamed under the lights, bigger, better and packed wall to wall with drool worthy machines.

The shop isn’t just a custom workshop anymore. Ashlay, together with his righthand man Roy, have added a proper motorcycle showroom with a range of seriously desirable bikes. They’ve also taken on the Italjet agency, those stunning urban weapons were proudly on display, and expanded their accessories lineup, now stocking all the good stuff riders actually want.

Out back, the workshop’s grown too, more space, more tools, more capability. They’re now offering tyres, chains and sprockets, services, repairs, rebuilds, detailing, and of course, their trademark performance and custom work. Ashlay’s still hands on at the bench with his tech team, while Roy and Nicole handle the showroom side of things.

And if you need your bike transported anywhere in South Africa by some who will care for it as ms much as you do and possibly even more, Roy runs Point 99 Motorcycle transport.

The new space is something else, a modern temple to speed and style. It’s the kind of place you walk into and immediately start planning your next project, or at least your next excuse to come back.

In times like these, with the economy doing its thing and most shops just trying to survive, it’s damn good to see someone pushing forward, investing, expanding and keeping the local bike scene alive and kicking.

Big congrats to Ashlay and the whole 300Plus crew. You guys are proof that passion and guts still count for something.
