Point by point navigation (Every modern bike should have this!), Make and recieve calls, Read messages, check the weather, play music, order takeaways…
And it is easy to use, which is important…. Especially to the technologically challenged amongst us. This App is for their new generation bikes, excluding the The Africa Twins and Goldwings which will continue to use Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. The Road Sync App is currently available on their XL750 Transalp, CB750 Hornet and the new NX500, as standard onboard software in the purchase price and easy to activate by yourself.
So, what does it do?
Well, it is actually pretty cool. Our favourite feature is the on-screen point by point navigation – especially when we come blundering out of the bush in Timbuktu after an adventure ride and have no idea how to get home or more importantly, where the nearest fuel station might be and who sells the best hamburgers in the area.
Everything runs off an App on your Apple or Android based phone, (if you have one of them phones that the US doesn’t like you’re outta luck), and it all works of voice commands which is quite handy…. but let’s see how it kan laaik ta do wif da Souf Efriken aksent. Naturally it works better on the fly with a comms set on your lid, but you can also pull over, get your phone out of your pocket and use voice commands as well as toggling through the menus with the menu switch on the left hand handlebar.

This same system also allows you to accept or reject calls, have it read your text messages to you, (compatible with WhatsApp, Telegram, SMS or whatever you use), as well as toggle through your music playlists, adjust the volume and check on the weather.
We went along to Honda SA to get the low down on it, check out the video. It is extremely easy to set up and even easier to use on the road. We like simple, easy to use and relevant day to day technology to us as the Average Joe rider. Having Apps to set your throttle response, traction control severity and that kind of thing is all lekker and everything – but that is for the more seriously competitive rider, Honda’ Road Sync makes a lot of sense to us.
