Saturday the 15th of March 25 saw the gang from Honda Wing SA roll into town with trailer loads full of Honda demo bikes for customers to ride. They are hitting every single Honda Wing dealership in SA over the next bunch of months. A great initiative! One of the best ways to sell bikes is by getting bums on saddles.
KR Motorcycles sent out lots and lots of invitations to their database and put on a lekker spread of refreshments and nourishment. Customers rolled in throughout the morning, heading out for test rides in a steady flow and all coming back with big grins on their faces.
Between test rides, Riaan Fourie of Honda SA managed to gather everyone together to hand over a commemorative plaque to Kowie and his daughter Nicolette, marking 50 years as a Honda dealer, which also makes them Honda Wings oldest Honda Wing dealership in South Africa.
They are also one of the oldest OEM independently owned motorcycles dealerships in South Africa, still under the same ownership and management from the very beginning. When asked about their secret to success, they put it down to hard work. Oom Kowie – now in his 70’s only takes time off for a short holiday here and there, otherwise he is at work every day rolling up his sleeves and getting stuck in.
Nicolette joined the team a year after leaving school and, just a few years later, hasn’t missed a day of work other than for annual leave. She started out riding motocross with her Dad when she was a little girl and worked her way up through the ranks. She still rides motorcycles and will be hosting the IFRD for Limpopo province from KR Motorcycles for 2025 – keep an eye on their social media for more details on that.
It really was a worthwhile early Saturday morning drive up the N1 North. KR Motorcycles is the biggest motorcycle dealership anywhere north of Pretoria and is also an OEM agent for Yamaha and Suzuki motorcycles. They have a great workshop and fitment centre as well as a fully stocked and super busy parts department supplying both OEM and aftermarket parts. If you are in the area and looking for motorcycles or bits, they are on Landros Mare street in Polokwane..
