For 2026 MRSSA joins SAES (South African Endurance Series – cars). This week at Zwartkops Raceway, the racing began with the first round of the 2026 season. The riders were eager to get out on track and, once the lights went out, the action was brilliant.

Race 1

The two young guns of the Sub 500cc class got proceedings underway.

The race had barely settled when #13 Lungisile Tom suffered an unfortunate mechanical failure, bringing his race to a premature end. That left #28 Amohelang Phiri to take the win.

Race 2

Phiri launched off the line into the lead, with Tom tucked in close behind. Phiri had to remain composed as Tom piled on the pressure throughout the race. At the chequered flag, Phiri secured first place, with Tom coming home second.

Race 3

Their final race of the day proved just as competitive over the opening laps. Phiri eventually managed to create a small gap and went on to claim another victory, with Tom once again finishing second.

Combined Report

Race 1

Lights on… lights out and the race is on…

#32 Adolf Boshoff rocketed off the line to grab the holeshot, leading a train of riders through Turn 1. Behind him, #117 Dave Veringa and #41 Graeme van Breda were locked in a fierce battle for fourth place.

Boshoff went on to take the win, with #52 Troy Tonking finishing second and #43 Jaco Gous securing third. Veringa edged out Van Breda for fourth by less than two-tenths of a second.

Race 2

Race 2 delivered non-stop action throughout the field, with close battles unfolding across the pack. Drama struck at Turn 4 when Phiri took the inside line, resulting in contact that led to Veringa suffering a heavy crash. Fortunately, he was able to walk away unharmed.

At the front, Boshoff once again took the victory, Tonking followed in second, and Phiri rounded out the podium in third.

Race 3

From the outset, Boshoff asserted his dominance, although this time Phiri and Tonking stayed within striking distance.

Further back, Gous and Van Breda produced one of the races of the day, with Gous leading and Van Breda applying relentless pressure.

Boshoff claimed his third win of the day to secure overall honours. Tonking took the flag in second, with Phiri finishing third. Gous crossed the line in fourth, narrowly ahead of Van Breda in a very close fifth-place finish.
