MT HELMETS STINGER 2

MT HELMETS STINGER 2

Stylish, budget friendly and packed with features.

In tough economic times, budget friendly options for anything and everything are always a popular option. When that budget friendly option comes packed with features, it becomes even more attractive.

And that is the case with the MT Stinger 2 helmet from Powered By Autocycle.

You get a modern stylish helmet with a good, sporty, aerodynamic design that features a multi density inner EPS liner for better impact absorption. It is a lightweight, and comfortable helmet with a shell made of injected polycarbonate.

The helmet also features a multi-ventilation system, anti-allergic and wicking internal fabrics to keep the rider more comfortable on those long hot summer days in the saddle.

It also has embedded speaker pockets for Bluetooth communication systems.

Most importantly, it is dual-certified, including the new e.c.e 22.06 approval.

We got one for Deon in our office, who has now been riding with it for about 4 months on a daily basis and this is what he had to say about it:

Being on a motorcycle nearly everyday for more than just commuting to and from work, my job also entails riding long distances and doing photo shoots, so comfort and weight plays a big role when choosing a helmet. The Stinger 2 weighs in at 1450 grams which is pretty light and does not give any head shake when the wind gets a little rough.

As for comfort, the thick inner linings mold around your head and face.

I permanently wear spectacles and I have found that when running around taking photos and I get sweaty, my glasses are held firmly in place and do not move around at all, a big plus point for me.

We like the fact that it has double D-rings strap.

The inner linings can be removed and washed. And are relatively easy to remove and to replace.

The visor gives you good peripheral vision, the pin lock secures the visor in place and is easy to open and close with gloved hands. The kinetic mechanism works well to keep the visor in place in either of the four settings. It is not the quietest helmet out there but its not too intrusive and when the visor is open the air whistle through – great for keeping you focussed.

Ventilation:

Impressive. When things get hot, the interior airflow channels really do the job of cooling your head down. The two top air intakes work well with the four rear exhaust ports located under the rear deflector that gives you a nice cooling airflow.

The MT Stinger 2 also comes equipped with a wide front air vent that you can feel working on your face.

I like the look of the helmet with the bright yellow pin stripes and matte finish, it just looks like a helmet that is made for speed and racing around the track. If you do take it out on the track the Stinger 2 is equipped with a double D-ring strap to bring that extra needed safety.

MT Helmets provide safety to riders in Moto3 and Moto2, so you know you are well protected.

You can feel the quality of the helmet everytime you put it on.

Some of the MT Stinger 2 specs:

  • HIRP shell (High Impact Resistance Polymer)
  • 1 shell size, 2 EPS liners (XXS-S and M-XXL)
  • 1450g +/- 50g weight
  • Optically correct, anti-scratch Polycarbonate visor
  • Ventilation system
  • Micrometric buckle
  • Breathable, removable, and washable interior
  • Pinlock MaxVision insert ready
  • MT-V-28B visor included
  • ECE 22.06 homologation

So, from my point of view after wearing the MT Stinger 2 for four months almost everyday, it is a great helmet that will bring you the needed protection at a very reasonable price point.
