Redstar held the final round of the RSR Social Racing series a week ago. There were more than 60 entries and the racing was pretty exciting.
RSR Pee Wee
RSR Pee Wee Heat 1. The youngsters really had a good old-fashioned dice. Leading off the line was #218 Tyler Purificati, with #14 Zian Andalaft and #143 Tsebo Mafokate hot on her heels. There were a few moments where Andalaft nearly took the lead, but Purificati held a solid defensive line. Purificati managed to stay ahead and took the win, Andalaft followed closely in 2nd with Mafokate right there in 3rd place. Heat 2. Purificati got the holeshot, but Andalaft, with a bold move, snatched the lead from her. Purificati and Mafokate gave chase. Andalaft, however, was simply too quick to be caught and claimed 1st place. Purificati came through in 2nd and Mafokate finished 3rd.

RSR150 & RSR250
RSR150 & RSR250 (combined report) Heat 1. This was by far the most nail-biting racing of the day. Thirteen bikes lined up on the grid, ready to race. With a huge roar, the riders came storming off the line. A few laps in, the pack began to spread out with battles happening everywhere. There was a four-way fight for the lead: #122 Cayden Robert, #13 Ryan van Nieuwkerk, #41 Jason van Breda and #69 Tyler Morgan all pushing hard for the win. In the end, Cayden Robert won the race, Van Nieuwkerk took 2nd and Van Breda finished a close 3rd. Heat 2 saw even more action than the first. The same four riders were at it again, with the lead constantly changing. This was truly elbow-bashing at its finest. All four riders came through the last corner side by side, crossing the line within 0.423 seconds of one another. Robert snatched 1st place, Van Breda 2nd, Van Nieuwkerk 3rd and Morgan 4th.

NSF100.
NSF100. Heat 1. The South African Motorcycle Racing Academy riders were out next. From the start, #17 Liam Bronkhorst dominated the race. He kept his head down and crossed the line in 1st place, #57 Jayson Perufsky came through in 2nd and #14 Zian Andalaft took 3rd. Heat 2. Bronkhorst came out swinging yet again. He didn’t put a foot wrong as he flowed around the circuit, securing his second win of the day. Perufsky claimed another 2nd place and Andalaft finished 3rd.

RSR Premier 600 Cup, RSR Core 600 Cup & RSR Beginner 600 Cup. (combined report) Heat 1. The bikes launched off the line and piled into the first corner, all making it through cleanly. #11 Ryan van Nieuwkerk led the charge. Van Nieuwkerk kept a pace that could not be matched and stormed across the line to take 1st place. Ryan also set the fastest lap with a blistering time of 01:54.498. #57 Diego de Ponte took a comfortable 2nd, followed by #08 Jonathan van Niekerk in 3rd. Heat 2. The race was barely underway when the three front-runners began to pull away from the pack. Van Nieuwkerk powered his way over the line to secure the win, De Ponte claimed 2nd with #20 Tyler Richardson taking 3rd place.

RSR 400 Cup & Suzuki 8R Cup (combined report) Heat 1. #77 Mueez Jassat had a great start and grabbed the holeshot. #21 Nicole Purificati was on his back wheel the entire time, giving him no room for error. #74 Tristan Henning and #48 Robert Jonck were locked in a tight battle for third place. Jassat and Purificati came down the final straight with Purificati stealing the win. Jassat had to settle for 2nd place and 3rd went to Henning, but only just. Heat 2. Purificati and Jassat traded positions multiple times. A few laps in, Jassat managed to put some distance between them, enough to cross the line in 1st place. Purificati claimed 2nd and Henning took another 3rd.

RSR Core 1000 Cup & RSR Beginner 1000 Cup. (combined report) Heat 1. Some more good racing action took place between these two classes. At the front, #82 Paul Perufsky, #23 Andrew Jones and #3 Jordan Gaines were leading the pack, but a hard-charging #193 Mike Viljoen was gaining ground quickly and soon took the lead. Viljoen could not be caught and took the win, Gaines followed in 2nd place and #97 Clinton Pearson finished 3rd. Heat 2. The race was in full swing when, on lap 3, Viljoen made contact with Perufsky and went down. This brought out the red flag. The race was restarted and the action resumed. Perufsky led for a while until Pearson took over the lead. Pearson claimed the win, Perufsky 2nd and Gaines 3rd.

RSR Premier 1000 Cup, RSR Masters & RSR Grand Masters (combined report) Heat 1. #52 Troy Tonking took an early lead with #821 Damion Purificati right on his tail. The pack followed behind with plenty of action taking place. As the laps ticked by, Purificati simply couldn’t catch Tonking. Tonking crossed the line in 1st, Purificati followed shortly in 2nd, with #33 Mitch Mortimer taking 3rd place. Heat 2. The lights went out and the final race of the year got underway. Tonking had his hands full trying to fend off Purificati. A couple of laps in, Purificati pushed a little too hard and ran off-track. He lost a few positions but managed to fight his way back through the field. Tonking took the double win, Mortimer claimed 2nd place and Purificati still managed to take 3rd.
