Last year, we told you about a new race series that was being put together – The Suzuki 8R cup. Well the good news is that, despite oposition from some quarters, its been given the green light!
Riding within the MRSSA series, this series now forms part of the SA Endurance Series.
With MRSSA there will be 3 motorcycle classes. The class that the 8R Cup will race within will include Sub 500, Classics/HHMC, Superbike Novice and Breakfast Run.
5 Classes within a class gives critical numbers on the track at one time to create a race for spectators to enjoy.
The 8R Cup will have its own regulations and, for the first year, will run bikes as standard as possible. Revision of the regulations will occur with input from participants at the end of the season, ready for the next season.
Errol Quan Chi, Head of technical for Suzuki South Africa for more than 40 years will be the Technical Controller and will be present at all rounds of the series. All bikes will have sealed ECU and engines BEFORE delivery to the race teams, by Errol himself.
Ohlins Suspension will be supplied by MP suspension and will be sealed by them before delivery. Correct Rider weight springs will be fitted before sealing of the unit, included in the pricing.
Rear sets, clip on handlebars, braided brake hoses and race fairings will be supplied from official suppliers to the series.
Tyres will be the choice of the racer and at their cost BUT only one set will be allowed for Qualifying, Race 1 and Race 2. Tyres will be marked directly after qualifying and checked after each race.
Pricing has been kept as low as possible and any extra engine guards, painting etc, will be over and above the pricing below. This pricing is still to be finally confirmed. Pricing including VAT
The purchase of your bike will be facilitated by a pre-approved Suzuki Dealership close to you.
