Round 3 of the ZX-10 Masters Cup took place at Kyalami this past weekend and with 28 bikes making it to the grid. The race was part of the National Extreme Festival.
Even though there are 28 bikes in all, they are divided into three classes: Masters 35 – 39 years old, Grand Masters 40 – 50 years old and Veterans 51 and above, with an overall combined championship.
Masters.
Leaving pit lane for their qualifying round the riders pushed hard to get that ever so important pole position. At the end of their run it was once again #11 Clinton Seller who claimed pole as he set the fastest time by 2.010sec, he was followed by #60 Trevor Westman who took the the second slo, just 0.064sec quicker than #821 Damion Purificati.
Race 1: As the lights went out the incredible roar of Kawasaki engines echoed through the air as they went hurling down through the kink into turn two known as Crowthorne.
Seller, who has won every single race so far, was on a good pace to keep it that way. The gap between him and his competition grew by each lap until he took the win by 4.173sec. In 2nd place we had Purificati who made his way over the line 5.981sec ahead of Westman in 3rd.
Race 2: Once again starting from the front of the grid, Seller sped out in front and stayed in the lead creating an even bigger gap than in race one. He kept it wide open until the chequered flag came out and he claimed his perfect day, making it 3 perfect rounds in a row. If Seller continues like this there will be nobody to catch him in the championship points. Purificati took another 2nd with Westman coming in 3rd place.
Overall Results:
1st #11 Clinton Seller
2nd #821 Damion Purificati
3rd #60 Trevor Westman
