The HJC RPHA 1 V2 Carbon Funky Diablo is not exactly trying to blend into the crowd. This is Fabio Quartararo’s replica helmet, complete with the colourful, properly wild Funky Diablo graphics.
But underneath the artwork is some serious race-bred technology.
The shell uses HJC’s Premium Integrated Matrix Plus (PIM+) carbon construction, combining carbon fibre and other reinforcing materials to keep the helmet lightweight while maintaining high structural strength. The aerodynamic shell shape has been developed with racing in mind, helping with stability at high speed.
Ventilation is equally race-focused, with multiple intake and exhaust ports working together to draw cool air through the helmet and evacuate heat and moisture. The interior uses HJC’s removable and washable MultiCool fabric, with cheek pads and liners designed to provide a secure, snug fit.
Up front, the RPHA 1 V2 Carbon gets HJC’s HJ-42R racing visor, offering a wide field of vision and a secure locking system. The visor can also be changed quickly, which is handy for riders who regularly move between road and track.
There’s plenty of attention paid to aerodynamics too, including the rear spoiler, while the overall design remains compact and aggressively shaped.
And then there’s that paintwork.
The Funky Diablo graphics are unmistakably Quartararo, loud, colourful and just a little bit mental. Exactly what you’d expect from a MotoGP replica.
