The crown jewel of the MT-07 is the parallel-twin, 2-cylinder, 4-stroke, Liquid-cooled, DOHC, 4-valve motor with Yamaha’s crossplane crankshaft technology for “More accessible performance, improved torque and refined gear changing.”
The new MT-07 can be equipped with Yamaha’s new Y-AMT, Yamaha Automated Manual Transmission. This will give you the option of manual shifting with a finger-operated see-saw switch or fully automatic transmission. You can even make the ride better with the Yamaha Ride Control feature and cruise control. Only available on the MT-07 Y-AMT.
Here’s the blurb: “Straight from the dark side of Japan comes the MT-07’s new stripped-back look. This brings harmony between styling and engineering and only the utmost necessities are added that brings enhancements to the riding experience. Bringing rider and motorcycle a better connection.”
The Yamaha Chip Controlled Throttle is another new feature of electronics aids. To add to all of this the Yamaha Ride Control gives you access to two throttle maps and switchable traction control, or you can use the YRC mode to set up the ride that suits you the most.
The MT-07 now comes equipped with “Acoustic amplifying technology”, a feature to take your smile and wrap it all around your face. The system takes the induction roar, enhances and channels it to the rider.
To add to the modern look and rider comfort, the MT-07 has new 41mm ‘üpside-down’ forks that will offer a better connection with the front wheel. At the back you will find a linkage-type rear shock absorber with adjustable preload and rebound damping settings.
The MT-07 sports lighter SpinForged wheels dressed in Dunlop Sportmax Q5A tyres for all-round capability.
The 5-inch TFT dash and the MyRide app gives the user multiple themes and smartphone connectivity. A turn-by-turn navigation system is available through the free Garmin StreetCross app all accessible via the switchgear.
Sportier ergonomics are enhanced by lower, wider tapered handlebars that are closer to the rider to improve the rider triangle. The 805mm seat height makes it a bike for any rider.
For stopping power, Yamaha opted for large twin discs and radially mounted four piston brake calipers. ABS for both front and rear.
In the case of emergency braking the MT-07 will engage the new Emergency Stop Signaling feature. It also comes with self-canceling indicators.
