The Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride is an International event that takes place in 108 countries across the globe and to date has raised over 59 million US Dollars since its inception in 2012.
THis year, Nedbank was a sponsor and they invited us to join the hundreds of riders in JHB for this years event.
The initiative was founded by Mark Hawwa of Sydney Australia. He got his inspiration from a photo of TV show, Mad Men’s, Don Draper with his motorcycle while wearing his finest suit. This led Mark to create a themed ride that connects niche motorcycle enthusiasts and communities while raising funds in support of men dealing with prostate cancer and mental health challenges.
Our starting point was at the Mall of Africa where, after registration and a riders briefing riders took to the streets of Joburg and finished at Jail Break for some good food and entertainment.
All in, it was a really great day out in support of a very worthy cause.
This year, South Africa raised $37,221 USD with 1241 Riders participating across SA. This ranks S.A 18th out of the 108 countries and we Joburg guys ranked 87th out of 978 cities for funds raised.
