The rain came down…
Understatement. It poured. So instead of mooching about inside watching Netflix, we took off to the Thousand Bike Show which – as of a few years ago, is now under cover…
The 1000 Bike Show is an annual event organized by the Classic Motorcycle Club, showcasing a variety of historic and classic motorcycles.
The show is family-friendly and features a wide array of activities, including motorcycle lifestyle exhibitions, food trucks, live bands, and entertainment for kids. It attracts hordes of visitors who come to admire the motorcycles on display, ranging from vintage models to newer ones.
Once again, it was a proper display of old school nostalgia with immaculate machines from across the ages on display. It’s difficult to explain the depth that some collectors have and the amount of love and care that goes into maintaining their machines.
The 1000 Bike Show is all about old bikes, but it’s also about like-minded people getting together to enjoy a beverage, a laugh and a tall tale or two about motorcycles in general.
In the vid below, we start up a six cylinder CBX 1000… The sounds not great because it was in the parking lot, but man these old bikes can roar!
Many collectors are after the gold and trophies and prizes are awarded for the best bikes on display.
The Greenstone Mall in Edenvale played host to the event again this year – and if you had any misgivings about the show being undercover, the weather proved that it’s a great idea.
The bands played, the food was good and many of the bikes were, quite frankly, amazing.
Hopefully next year, they do a bit more marketing for the event and we can all help bump the numbers up.
It is a great day out for sure and it’s a real shame if you missed it.
