Lean, aggressive, and performance focussed, yamaha’s R7 is built for riders who want that supersport flair without massive 1000 cc plus power.
Motor
At its core is the 689 cc CP2 parallel-twin. It’s a torque-rich engine tuned for usable performance across the rev range with a 270° crank that gives the bike a distinctive, lively feel. It produces 73 hp at 8,750 rpm and 67 Nm of torque at 6,500 rpm.
A six-speed gearbox is paired with Assist & Slipper clutch to ensure smooth, controlled downshifts and lighter clutch operation., Perfect, they say for aggressive cornering or relaxed urban rides.
Suspension & Chassis
The R7’s diamond frame is lightweight yet rigid, designed to provide nimble handling and high-speed stability. Up front, a fully adjustable 41 mm inverted KYB fork manages bumps and cornering forces with precision, while the rear Monocross shock features preload and rebound adjustability, completing a chassis tuned for agile, confident performance.
Brakes & Wheels
Braking duties are handled by dual 298 mm front discs with radial-mount calipers and a 245 mm rear disc, supported by dual-channel ABS. The bike rolls on 17-inch cast aluminum wheels front and rear, shod with sport-oriented tyres that balance grip, stability, and responsive feedback.
Ergonomics & Design
True to Yamaha’s R‑Series DNA, the R7 combines performance-focused ergonomics with aerodynamic bodywork. Clip-on handlebars and rearsets put the rider in a sporty position, while the slim, aggressive fairing, compact LED twin-headlight, and sculpted tank reinforce the bike’s athletic presence. Its slim silhouette and purposeful lines make it look fast even when stationary.
Electronics & Features
The R7 keeps things simple but effective: a digital LCD instrument cluster displays gear position, fuel, and trip information, while an optional Quick Shift System allows clutchless upshifts. Lightweight, clean, and intuitive, the electronics complement the bike’s sport-focused nature without cluttering it.
Weight & Practicality
Weighing around 188 kg wet, the R7 strikes a solid balance between lightness and stability. Its 13-litre fuel tank provides enough range for weekend blasts, while the overall package remains compact and manageable for daily riding or spirited backroad adventures.
Updates for 2026:
The bike boasts a new 5-inch TFT display with smartphone connectivity (Garmin StreetCross), a 3rd-gen quickshifter for clutchless shifting, R1-inspired electronics with ride modes, a redesigned chassis with lighter SpinForged wheels, and enhanced ergonomics for better rider connection, alongside new styling and a limited-edition 70th Anniversary colour scheme.
