Motorcycle Racing Series South Africa Round 5 at Zwartkops Raceway

Round 5 of the MRSSA took place at Zwartkops Raceway alongside the car SA. Endurance Series. With more than twenty bikes on the grid, they were the highlight of the day. The classes consisted of 600 SBK, Masters, Unlimited 1000, Open SBK and BOTTS V4.

Race 1.
Pole position was taken by #20 Tyler Richardson on his Yamaha R6, he was joined by #43 Jaco Gous and #110 Jordan King on the front row.
Richardson had a great start and entered the first corner in the lead. #117 Dave Veringa, Gous and King were hot on his heels. With a bunch of riders bumping elbows throughout the race, there wasn’t a dull moment.

By lap seven, Gous had taken the lead, but in the very next lap Richardson reclaimed it.

The chequered flag came out and waved Richardson in for the win, Gous followed in 2nd place with King taking 3rd.

Race 2.
This time it was Richardson, Gous and King doing the chasing because early on in the race, Veringa led the pack.

In the sixth lap, Veringa dropped down a few spots. Gous took the lead with Richardson right behind him. With three laps to go, Richardson stuck his nose in front and rode his way to 1st place. Gous finished a close 2nd with King taking 3rd.

Race 3.
The lights went out and Richardson was off the line like a rocket, grabbing the holeshot. All the riders came out of turn one cleanly and the race was on.

#27 Ryan Futter and #70 Dieter Huysamen were in a heated battle for sixth place. Some proper racing took place between #52 Boikanyo Mabaso, #12 Simphiwe Mahlobo and #106 Jhandre Fourie. Richardson crossed the line to make it 3 out of 3 wins for the day, Veringa took 2nd with Gous following closely in 3rd place.
