Almost exactly two months ago today, people woke up to the news that Bikeshop Boksburg, the used motorcycle and Suzuki Dealership in Great North Road had burned to the ground. You can read about that here, but…
There is good news. They are up and running again.
Two months. That’s not an awfully long time if you think about it. Almost 300 bikes and all of the shop infrastructure was destroyed in the blaze.
“We will rebuild” said the team – and by gum, they have. A month after the fire, after all of the investigations, the site was cleared.
The old showroom was renovated and while all of that was going on, the Bikeshop team banded together to source stock from all over South Africa.
“It’s been a rough ride” Says Bikeshop Boksburg boss Jannie Jordaan, I would not wish this upon anyone!”
“The workshop, largely unscathed, has continued throughout, but we had to find bikes, renovate, buy furniture, get comms and power up and sorted… and there’s still a lot to do – but we are open and trading again”, he says with a rueful grin.
It’s one helluva story, the bikes that were destroyed can never be replaced, but the new showroom is open, with lots of great stock of new Suzuki and used bikes of all shapes and sizes looking for new homes. Big plans are afoot for an even bigger better store than the one that was destroyed.
“We still need stock”, Says Jannie. If you have a good, clean motorcycle that you are selling, please get in touch. And if you are looking for a great pre-loved bike, or a new Suzuki, our team is ready to assist.”
