After a few years in the Red Bull Rookies cup, Ruché Moodley’s road to MotoGP started in earnest this year when he joined the BOE Motorsports Team in the Moto3 category.
Ruché was selected to race in the Red Bull Rookies Cup in 2022. That year, he finished the season in 19th place and since then has been a consistent competitor.
2023 was a very good season. He found himself on the podium in Le Mans in 3rd place and ended the season 9th overall.
2024 was just as good, with great results through the year. He almost took the win in Mugello as he was in the lead barreling down the final straight, then Maximo Quilles collided with him, an incident that saw Ruché losing control and crashing out of the lead. With hard work and dedication Ruché claimed another 9th overall last year.
For 2025 Ruché has been signed to the BOE Motorsports team. He is joined by Australian team mate Cormac Buchanan. No strangers to the game, BOE Motorsports has had riders under their flag like Joel Kelso, David Muñoz and Ana Carrasco.
On the 2nd of March, Ruché had the whole world’s eyes on him as he took his place on the grid for Round 1 at the Chang International Circuit in Buriram Thailand. He qualified in 19th place and finished the race in 11th.
For Round 2 Ruché found himself on the number 19 spot on the grid once again, he fought hard and finished in a close 15th place right behind his teammate Cormac Buchanan.
Round 3 took the young South African to the Circuit of the Americas in Texas. Ruché didn’t have the best qualifying run and only managed to qualify 22nd. This didn’t put a damper on his spirit as he climbed up the ranks to take 16th.
In Qatar, he took the number 20 spot on the grid. Ruché kept his head down as he made his way through the pack to finish in a well deserved 13th place – in a pack of 6 riders that crossed the line within a mere 0.726 sec of each other.
Spain was not a very good raceday for Ruché.
An incident saw him crashing out at turn 6 on the first lap, taking David Almansa and David Muñoz with him. He suffered a fractured radius and has undergone surgery.
Sadly, he’ll most likely miss Round 6 at Le Mans.
With a good start to his Moto3 season and improvements in every race so far, Ruché seems to have a bright future ahead of him.
The whole of SA is rooting for you boykie!
We look forward to seeing this youngster making waves on the GP circuit.
