With the SV 650 now discontinued, Suzuki has decided to take that platform in a new direction. A crossover direction, blending everyday usability with modern tech. The SV‑7GX isn’t about extreme performance, it’s about versatility, that beautiful midweight V‑twin character, and practical electronics for the street and weekend trips.
Engine.
Power comes from that bulletproof 645 cc, 90° V‑twin that produces 73 hp at 8,500 rpm and 64 Nm of torque at 6,800 rpm. The engine retains the SV650’s bore and stroke (81 × 62.6 mm) and meets Euro 5+ emissions standards. It pairs with a six-speed transmission and a bi-directional quickshifter, enabling clutchless up- and downshifts. Ride-by-wire throttle and Suzuki Drive Mode Selector (SDMS) allow multiple riding modes.
Suspension & Chassis.
The SV‑7GX uses 41 mm telescopic forks at the front and a link-type rear monoshock with preload adjustment. A tubular steel trellis frame keeps the centre of gravity low and accessible. Claimed kerb weight is 211 kg, while the fuel tank holds 17.4 litres of fuel.
It all sounds seriously sensible.
Brakes & Wheels.
Front brakes feature twin 290 mm discs, with a single 240 mm disc at the rear. ABS is standard. The bike rolls on 17‑inch cast aluminium wheels, shod with Pirelli Angel GT II tyres in 120/70‑17 front and 160/60‑17 at the rear.
Ergonomics.
Seat height sits at 795 mm, making the bike approachable for a wide range of riders. The upright seating position is aided by adjustable windscreen and handguards. A moulded rear carrier allows optional luggage mounting, emphasizing practical crossover versatility.
Electronics.
The SV‑7GX comes equipped with traction control with multiple settings, SDMS riding modes, a bi-directional quickshifter, and a full-colour 4.2‑inch TFT display. The dash supports smartphone connectivity, including navigation, notifications, and USB‑C charging. LED lighting is standard throughout.
The 2026 SV‑7GX doesn’t aim to be a hardcore sportbike or giant adventure machine. Instead, it focuses on a balanced package: Midweight V‑twin character, practical crossover ergonomics, modern electronics, and versatility for everyday riding.
