During my 5 day road trip from Cape Town to Johannesburg aboard the Suzuki GSX-S 1000 GX I had the opportunity to pop in at Salleys Lifestyle in Bloemfontein on the final leg of my journey. Think of a motorcycle brand…. And they are probably the OEM agent for it. As the dealership formerly known as Salleys Yamaha, they have taken on just about every brand available in South Africa.
Yamaha?…. Obviously. Kawasaki? ……. Yes. SYM…… Check. Kayo…….. For sure. Lifan…… You betchya. Next door they also have KTM and Husqvarna. More recently, they also took on Honda. And literally the day I rolled in they were unpacking their first Suzuki’s.
Superbikes, Adventure bikes, Dirt bikes, ATV’s, Side x Sides, Jet Ski’s, Commercial bikes, Scooters, Commuters, Pre-Owned bikes, you want it they have it! If you can’t find what you are looking for within their big basket of offerings, then maybe you’re in the wrong shop.
To round off their offering, they have the biggest and best professional workshops in the area with highly trained and skilled technicians that Alec Salley himself keeps an eye on. His other eye is keenly trained on his showroom and well stocked parts department. The first time I met Alec, I was a young Salesman at Jo’Burg Yamaha on one of The Adventure Companies rides in Fouriesburg. I was aboard the bosses extremely modified race Banshee and had managed to accumulate a lot of mud on the radiator, for which Alec gave me an earful about. I quickly cleaned up the radiator. You see Alec is not only an excellent businessman, but he is also a passionate motorcyclist and a well respected ATV racer from back in those days. So Salleys Lifestyle is not just a business to him, it is his life and he has instilled that same enthusiasm in his entire team.
Wander into the shop and you will be greeted by a smiling team member within seconds. Courteous, professional, attentive and enthusiastic is the best way to describe the team. They were really excited about landing a new brand in Suzuki.
Looking for riding kit: boots, jackets, pants, helmets, gloves, protective wear, casual wear, the shelves are stocked almost to overflowing. Need something for your bike: tyres, grips, mirrors, crash bars, luggage…. Absolutely anything, they have you covered, and if they don’t have what you are looking for you they will do their best to find and get it for you in the shortest time possible or find you an acceptable alternative.
