Suzuki already has the GSX-R1000 superbikes and the more upright, road-friendly GSX-S1000 models. Now there is something in between.
While the GSX-R models are focused primarily on track performance, the new GSX-10R is aimed at road use as a dedicated sports bike. It effectively acts as a bigger brother to the GSX-8R, which is a mid-range road sports bike.
Suzuki has stuck with its long-serving engine, derived from the 2005 GSX-R1000 K5. This 999 cc inline-four is the basis for all of the company’s current 1000 cc models except the latest GSX-R1000 superbikes. It produces 152 PS (around 150 bhp) and 106 Nm of torque, with strong low- and mid-range performance that suits everyday road riding.
Electronically, it comes with a ride-by-wire throttle, riding modes, a bidirectional quickshifter, launch control, wheelie control, and lean-sensitive traction control and ABS. Everything is managed through a colour TFT display with smartphone connectivity.
The main aluminium frame is shared with the GSX-S family, but it uses a different subframe to achieve a sportier riding position. Suspension is fully adjustable KYB units, there is an electronic steering damper, a claimed maximum lean angle of 53°, and a claimed wet weight of 214 kg.
The fairings and overall styling give the bike a sporty demeanour, complete with small winglets for added stability.
Honda V3R 900 E-Compressor Planned Production Model Unveiled.
Previously, Honda unveiled an engine, then a concept, and now it has unveiled the planned production unit of a world first.
The V3R 900 E-Compressor is the world’s first V3-cylinder motorcycle that features an electronically controlled supercharger. The 75° V3 has two cylinders in the front with one in the rear, while the e-compressor can develop boost independently of rpm, meaning more boost is available at lower rpm.
While no performance stats have been released, Honda claims that this 900 cc package will deliver performance comparable with a 1200 cc engine, with instant response and strong low-end torque.
To match the engine, the entire design is asymmetrical with a titanium fuel tank, exhaust pipes and silencer.
Technologically, the V3R features a Honda RoadSync system HMI (Human-Machine Interface) that includes AI-powered voice controls.
No other details were given, but the launch date is expected to be some time in 2027.
Ducati has Unveiled SP Versions of the Panigale V2, Panigale V4 and Streetfighter V4.
The famous “SP” has made its return to Ducati with the unveiling of new, sportier versions of the Panigale V2, Panigale V4 and the Streetfighter V4. The SP letters were first used by Ducati in 1989 with the 851 SP and have gone on to signify the sportier, usually race-homologation versions of the road models.
Let’s dive in:
Firstly, all three SP models feature Winter Test liveries designed to look like the fairings used during winter testing, which are usually unpainted or painted in plain colours. In this case, it’s black paintwork with white detailing.
The Panigale V2 is a strong contender in the Supersport class in racing series all over the world, including one ridden by South Africa’s own Darryn Binder, who won the MotoAmerica Supersport Championship this year.
The SP version will be a race-homologation model for this class. While the motor remains the 890 cc V-twin producing 120 hp, the changes are designed to enhance handling and precision.
The double-sided swingarm is 30 mm longer to make the bike more stable and reduce wheelies. The wheels change from cast aluminium to forged aluminium, which saves 1.5 kg of unsprung mass. The clutch goes from wet to dry, and the screen is higher in a racing style.
The Panigale V4 and Streetfighter V4 SP versions also keep the same motors as their respective S models, with the following other changes: both are fitted with carbon-fibre wheels that are roughly another kilogram lighter than the forged aluminium ones, and both get dry clutches that further save weight and reduce resistance. The brake calipers are Brembo Hypure units as seen on the S models, but the SPs also get a Brembo MCS master cylinder with a remote adjuster. Finally, both get adjustable billet footpegs, a lighter racing chain, and serial numbering (billet on the Panigale V4’s steering head; laser-engraved on the Streetfighter’s handlebars).
The Panigale V4’s fairings get larger biplane wings and Corner Sidepods that overall add 25% more downforce, while the Streetfighter gets carbon wings and a carbon mudguard.
Honda Unveils Heavily Redesigned 2027 CBR1000RR-R Fireblade…
Honda’s flagship superbike has been completely overhauled, with, they say, 75% of the components new, including the frame, swingarm, wheels, engine components and aero package. It will also be offered in three variants – standard Fireblade, Fireblade SP and the new HRC Works Edition that will serve as the new WorldSBK homologation model.
The motors across all variants will feature a revised 999 cc inline-four with the compression ratio increased from 13.6:1 to 13.8:1. Maximum horsepower remains at 218 hp, but the torque is slightly higher at 114 Nm, which also arrives earlier in the rev range, making it an easier ride. This is achieved through revised cams, pistons and combustion chambers.
New for this model are magnesium covers and aluminium fasteners for weight saving, plus a first for Honda – a two-stage variable-length intake air funnel system.
The new aluminium frame is lighter with 20% less lateral rigidity for better cornering feel, while the swingarm is also lighter with 12% less lateral rigidity. To help make this possible, the rear shock is now mounted to the engine and not the frame. The kerb weight is down one kilogram to 199 kg.
The geometry is steeper at 24.0° rake and 101 mm trail, from the previous 24.1° rake and 101.9 mm trail. What is interesting is that the crankshaft sits 5.2 mm higher – whereas we have always been taught that lower is better. This creates a more front-end weight bias. The seat height has been increased for a more aggressive track-orientated riding position.
The wheels are now seven-spoke and lighter, while the SP version gets the new Brembo Hypure calipers.
Both the Standard and SP models have revised fairings that offer the same downforce as the previous model but with less overall aerodynamic drag. The new HRC Works Edition receives larger CFRP dual-level winglets which will offer up to 3.5 times the downforce of the standard model at 299 km/h.
While the Standard model is fitted with Showa 43 mm BPF forks and a BFRC-Lite shock, the SP model features Öhlins S-EC 3.0 electronic versions, while the race-orientated HRC Works Edition is fitted with manual Öhlins NPX forks and a TTX36 rear shock.
The HRC Works Edition also comes with a single rider seat plus adjustable headstock and swingarm pivot.
BMW unveils the most powerful naked bike in the world…
BMW has pulled the covers off the new M 1000 RS, and it sets a record for the most powerful naked motorcycle available today. That title was previously held by the Ducati Streetfighter V4 at 214 hp, but the Beemer just pips it at 215 hp.
That power comes from the exact same engine as in the M 1000 RR superbike — a 999 cc inline-four.
Essentially, this is the love child of the M 1000 R naked bike and the M 1000 RR superbike. The chassis is essentially the same as the M 1000 R with the Competition Pack, but with the seat height raised by 20 mm for a more aggressive riding position. Otherwise, it has the same adjustable footpegs, Dynamic Damping Control semi-active suspension, M Carbon wheels as standard, a full titanium Akrapovič exhaust and a lightweight lithium-ion battery.
The livery is dark, the matte carbon winglets feature the RS lettering, the fuel tank is brushed aluminium and the tailpiece is from the M 1000 RR.
Overall weight with all fluids on board is 196 kg, around three kilos lighter than the standard M 1000 R.
There are more new bikes featured in Dirt And Trail online, but stay tuned for more RideFast Eicma news as we go.
