The Honda Brunch Cruise has battled with rain throughout the year, with only one fully sunny day back in January. April brought a glimmer of hope as riders turned up for a proper old-school track day.
Six of the last eight events have been cancelled due to rain, but on 19 April, Honda finally caught a break. Eager riders of all ages, on all makes and models, made their way to Zwartkops.
From Class A through to Class D, the turnout was solid, with everyone keen to get laps in. Conditions were overcast with the odd sunny spell, but nothing was going to keep riders off the circuit.
While Albie handled the all-important riders’ briefing, marshals, safety crews and medics took up position. Once the formalities were done, it was time to head out on track.
Everything ran smoothly through the morning, but by lunchtime the clouds rolled back in and the rain returned, bringing the day to an early close. With winter on the way, there is at least one upside, hopefully, a bit less rain.
