After previewing this one at EICMA 2023, Honda presented the final version of its new maxi naked, the CB1000 Hornet, at the 2024 edition. It is powered by a four cylinder engine derived from the 2017 CBR1000RR, revised to offer “maximum smoothness and mid-range torque” It’s capable of 152 hp at 11,000 rpm and 104 Nm at 9,000. The chassis is a double-beam steel frame, with fully adjustable Showa suspension and Nissin brakes.
The CB1000 Hornet SP, which should arrive in SA early in 2025, offers an additional 5hp and 3 Nm thanks to a dedicated exhaust valve.
The SP comes with fully adjustable 41mm Showa SFF-BP USD forks, an Öhlins TTX36 rear shock, Brembo Stylema front brake calipers, and a quickshifter with downshift blipper.
The Throttle By Wire control delivers three riding modes with pre-set combinations of Power, Engine Braking and HSTC with integrated Wheelie Control, plus two customisable options.
Gear ratios are designed for lots of acceleration they say.
The six-speed gearbox features an assist/slipper clutch.
