Honda’s CB1000 Hornet SP Incoming!

After previewing this one at EICMA 2023, Honda presented the final version of its new maxi naked, the CB1000 Hornet, at the 2024 edition. It is powered by a four cylinder engine derived from the 2017 CBR1000RR, revised to offer “maximum smoothness and mid-range torque” It’s capable of 152 hp at 11,000 rpm and 104 Nm at 9,000. The chassis is a double-beam steel frame, with fully adjustable Showa suspension and Nissin brakes.

The CB1000 Hornet SP, which should arrive in SA early in 2025, offers an additional 5hp and 3 Nm thanks to a dedicated exhaust valve.

The SP comes with fully adjustable 41mm Showa SFF-BP USD forks,   an Öhlins TTX36 rear shock, Brembo Stylema front brake calipers, and a quickshifter with downshift blipper.

The Throttle By Wire control delivers three riding modes with pre-set combinations of Power, Engine Braking and HSTC with integrated Wheelie Control, plus two customisable options.

Gear ratios are designed for lots of acceleration they say.

The six-speed gearbox features an assist/slipper clutch.

For easy on-screen navigation – and more – the five-inch colour TFT instrument display connects the rider to their smartphone via Honda RoadSync.
