Suzuki Weekend Away 2026

Suzuki Weekend Away 2026

Every year, Suzuki organises a getaway simply called the Suzuki Weekend Away. As the name suggests, it’s a weekend away, unless you happen to live in Hazyview, particularly at the well-known Numbi Hotel.

It works like this: a dinner on Friday evening, a treasure hunt on motorbikes, and a big prize-giving accompanied by the usual revelry and high spirits.

The treasure hunt runs via a specially programmed app. Participants split into teams, gave themselves humorous names, and then received tasks through the app. These ranged from answering general knowledge questions and counting the S’s on a sign, to counting wine bottles or taking the dare to jump into the icy pool.

The app also provided directions to various locations, some reached via roads that would make even the toughest riders shed a tear, roads best enjoyed on motorcycles.

Sadly, the weather decided to shed a tear too, followed by a full-blown sob. In conditions uncharacteristic of winter, the clouds gathered and the rain fell steadily. Undeterred, everyone pressed on through the cold and wet, because there’s no such thing as a good story where everything goes perfectly.

The route took riders up the famous “22” to Sabie, past Mac Mac Falls to Graskop, and then on to Ohrigstad. Challenges included everything from fashion shows and pretending to be a leopard, to a digital shooting range, throwing competitions, and posing like the Karate Kid. Scores were tallied on the app, and that evening, during a lavish prize-giving ceremony, the winners were announced.

The Suzuki Weekend Away is always a highlight of the year. It’s a perfect mix of great company, fun activities, and, of course, riding motorcycles through some of the best scenery in the world.

It really is a lot of fun. You should join us next year.
