A charity initiative for Rotary international collecting dog food…
It was a bright, sunny Sunday as we made our way down to the Bikeshop Boksburg Showroom for the 2nd annual Barkfest Breakfast Run out to Redstar and back.
What a cool day this was – entrants were asked to donate dog food for distribution to Rotary international who will get it to animal shelters – and for a paltry fee to Redstar, participants had the opportunity to enjoy a lekker breakfast and to take a few laps around the track, complete with a qualified instructor.
It was a mass ride out of the Republic Of Boksburg, onto the Witbank freeway for a quick whizz out to the famous track in Delmas. There were bikes and riders of all shapes and sizes – DOUBLE last years number – and we did not see a single person who was not grinning like mad. That’s the motorcycle effect!
Riders were registered at Redstar, Indemnities signed, Breakfasts wolfed down and two motley groups hit the track for some fun. Ever seen a Honda Goldwing scraping through the bends? Yup, Cruisers, ADV machines, Supercharged Green bikes… It was pretty epic to see.
Best of all, we spoke to so many people who had never been on a track before… and they came away grinning! You can bet that they will book again soon – and listening to the bench racing was entertainment in itself.
All in – a brilliant day out in the Highveld sunshine. A great initiative by Bikeshop Boksburg and The Bike Show bunch.
The Barfest Run doubled in size this year. Pencil it into your diary for next year, roughly the same time… It’s a great day out!
