The new KTM 790 Duke is said to be a no-nonsense street-brawler, designed and developed in Austria, and assembled in China.
Engine.
Featuring a 799 cc LC8c parallel twin motor, liquid-cooled 8-valve, DOHC that pushes 87 Nm at 8000 rpm followed by a roaring 105 PS finale that is developed for torque. KTM claims the ride-by-wire system will improve refinement , fuel efficiency and emission figures.
Rider Modes.
The 790 Duke has up to 5 different ride modes STREET, SPORT and RAIN comes standard with PERFORMANCE and TRACK Modes as an optional extra. The default STREET mode gives the rider full power, traction control and limited front wheel lift. When selecting SPORT mode the rider will experience sharper throttle control with slight wheel slip. RAIN mode will provide reduced power and maximum traction.
Suspension.
The 790 Duke is equipped with an upside-down 43 mm open cartridge front fork by WP suspension and split function technology, meaning that compression and rebound damping takes place in separate fork legs this is to allow for better tuning of the fork behavior. To keep the rear wheel from misbehaving the Duke is fitted with a high-quality gas-assisted WP APEX rear shock.
Wheels, Tyres & Brakes.
Fitted light weight alloy wheels manufactured using a low-pressure die-casting process to save on overall weight and is fitted with a set of MAXXIS Supermaxx ST tyres. The front brakes on the 790 Duke are two radially mounted four piston fixed callipers biting down on two 300 mm brake discs. Out back, braking duties are courtesy of a single disc, single piston floating calliper.
Frame & Swingarm.
The tubular chassis has been engineered to keep the chassis rigid and compact as possible to give a sharper turn-in and a better lean angle. A die-cast, open-lattice swing arm has been manufactured to optimise stability and stiffness and yet still offers flex characteristics. To reduce parts and complexity the swingarm uses a direct link to the rear shock.
TFT Display & Headlight.
Featuring an all new 5” bonded glass TFT dashboard that has been upgraded with the latest information and graphic software to make things faster and easier to navigate. KTMConnect is available as an optional extra so that the rider can connect the 790 Duke to their smartphone giving them access to navigation, calls and audio, to keep your phone charged at all times the dashboard is equipped with a USB-C port.
Ergonomics.
The KTM 790 Duke has kept true to its aggressive sports attitude with easy rider ergonomics and upright seating position. The narrow engine and chassis gives the rider spacious legroom without compromising cornering clearance. The aluminium foot pegs add to rider comfort while still providing an impressive lean angle. The new grippy seat cover allows the rider to move around the bike much easier and at 825 mm seat height the 790 Duke should work well for both short and tall riders.
