25 years of the R1

To commemorate the 25th Anniversary of the R1, Yamaha Motor Europe has commissioned an exclusive limited run of only 25 R1 machines that will be hand built from the chassis up.

The bike, developed by Yamaha Motor Europe and its GYTR PRO Shop features a host of upgrades over the standard model, developed with the Yamaha Motor Research & Development Europe (YMRE).

Yamaha says that the new bike “brings World Superbike levels of spec and performance to the R1.”

The bike will feature the full range of GYTR PRO performance parts including a lightweight carbon rear subframe designed to accommodate both a modified fuel tank with a lower centre of gravity, Öhlins FGR front forks and a TTX rear shock, an underslung swingarm, Brembo braking components, and carbon fibre bodywork with special commemorative livery.

On top of these additions, the bike can also be spec’d to include the GYTR PRO Electronic System (GPES) module, an electronics engine package providing data acquisition and control. The GPES features the most up-to-date electronic software rider aids, such as anti-wheelie, launch control, engine braking management, adjustable fuelling, and traction control.

Flippin Beautiful Innit?

To get your hands on what Yamaha is billing as “The Ultimate R1”, you’ll need to jump because only 25 are being built for the European region. Each bike will be built at the GYTR Pro Shop.

We imagine that maybe, they are all gone by now…

Once built, the 25 owners will have the chance to have the bike set up for them by a team of Yamaha technicians,  the same level of service that the factory’s WorldSBK riders get.
